We are seeking an experienced Buyer with a good understanding of electronic components and the global components market.
This company is a well-established, dynamic and growing organisation in the electronics sector based in Hook, Hampshire.
The Buyer will evaluate the need for products against demand or forecast, ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of quality parts for production and / or distribution.
The Role:

Monitor component lead times, shortages, obsolescence, and market trends to mitigate risk and avoid production delays.

Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and value improvements.

Liaise with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, logistics, and issue resolution.

Work closely with engineering to identify approved components and alternate sourcing options where necessary.

Track and report on key metrics including delivery performance, cost variance, and supplier quality.

Evaluate demand from relevant reports, forecasts and other sources.

Control inventory levels and manage stock turns as defined in KPI’s.

Place purchase orders with suppliers including LPO’s and online transactions.
-
Ensure appropriate acknowledgement received from suppliers and update ERP system and files.

Progress purchases with suppliers, arrange international shipping and liaising with carriers.

Ensure received goods are correctly booked into system and warehouse.

Complete environmental reports.

Report on customer demand, inventory levels and month end reports.

Returns responsible for liaising with suppliers on all non-conformances and recording the information for Management review.

Waste Management and reporting.
About YOU…
-
Proven experience in a procurement or buying role, ideally within a relevant industry (electronics, engineering, components).

Good understanding of electronic components and the global components market.

Understanding of lead time constraints and strategies for mitigating component shortages or obsolescence.

Experience with global sourcing and dealing with Far East suppliers (desirable).

Familiarity with quality standards and regulatory compliance in electronics (ISO 9001, RoHS, etc.) – desirable.

Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

Proficient in ERP systems.

Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
In return, my client will be offering a salary of £40,000 – £45,000 (depending on experience), on a 6 month fixed term contract. There is also flexibility to work one day a week from home.
