Role Overview

Due to retirement we are currently recruiting for an experienced and detail-oriented Management Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated finance professional to take ownership of essential monthly financial reporting and support the finance department’s daily functions. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is pivotal in delivering accurate financial data, budget analysis, and contributing to the company’s financial planning and control processes. Ideally you will have previous experience with using Microsoft Dynamics 365 to be considered for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for the UK entity, including budget versus actual comparisons and month-end journal entries

  • Perform sales ledger, purchase ledger, and nominal code checks as part of month-end procedures

  • Maintain fixed asset registers, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Produce cash flow reports and complete monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with MTD and Import VAT regulations

  • Forecast weekly sales orders and shipments

  • Manage ongoing hire purchase and lease agreements

  • Prepare audit files and support audit processes

  • Collect and analyse overseas affiliates’ monthly management information against budgets

  • Assist in preparing annual operating budgets for the UK and affiliates

  • Conduct credit control at order manufacturing and for debtor collections

  • Perform margin analysis and maintain material price indices

  • Deliver detailed monthly sales analysis reports

  • Suggest and implement improvements within the finance department

  • Support ERP rollout and data cleansing initiatives

  • Handle ad-hoc sales and purchase data processing, including invoice raising, supplier invoice coding, payment issuance, receipt posting, and bank reconciliations

Requirements

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a management accountant or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost accounting, risk analysis, budgeting, and forecasting

  • Proficiency with financial software and Microsoft Office applications

  • Analytical mindset with excellent numerical aptitude

  • Degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. CMA, CGMA) preferred

Desirable:

  • Experience with ERP systems, ideally within a manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with accounts packages such as Opera or similar

  • Advanced IT skills including Excel and Office

  • Holiday – 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, increasing by 2 days after 2 yrs service and 2 days each subsequent year up to a total of 30 days
